My experience started doing oversized loads in 1980 till 1990 with a division of Kingsway called Brockelsby was Heavy Haul division. There was only 28 of us and we moved oversized loads right across North Anmerica. My old dispatcher became the head of oversized at Challenger Moter Freight, Dave Snodgrass. Our big accounts at the time were. GE out of Peterborough moving rotors and stater generators. Ususally to very remote locations like Quebec Hydro, James Bay projects, paper mills in northern BC, hydro project Truckee, CA, Hoover dam in Nevada. Caterpiller we moved to mines, contruction sites all over, and we hauled for Cat carrier out on the east coast, when they were busy we helped them out all over the east coast of Canada. Bannister pipe line out of Alberta, when ever they moved their equipment from one job to the next, we helped out anywhere. One account made big huge fans for sky scrapers. These usually were moved at night with police and escorts. Once a year we delivered and picked up big lathe's, huge press's to Machinery show at the Convention Center in Chicago. It was really interesting to see 100 trucks loading or unloading machinery in the convention center with all the cranes.
Later with owning my own company we moved various oversized loads all over the USA and Canada. One of our accounts moved explosion proof buildings from Texas to the Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada.
